Who Are We?

Poplar Spring was founded in 1788 by a group of born-again believers and recently celebrated its 235th anniversary. Truly, God has been faithful to Poplar Spring. We are located just outside of Bunn, North Carolina where we have a great opportunity to serve the people of Bunn, Zebulon, and the surrounding areas. Poplar Spring cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Tar River Baptist Association in order to engage the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to maintain doctrinal integrity. Poplar Spring is a place you can:

  • Discover a living, holy gracious God
  • Experience a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Be a part of a loving, caring, fellowship of born-again believers
  • Grow in faith and love of God, neighbor and community

What Do We Believe?

Poplar Spring Baptist Church endorses the doctrinal beliefs expressed in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. For a copy of this confession of faith click on the following link:

Baptism

What does it mean?

  • Baptism is an outward sign of an inward commitment. It does not save a person, but rather is a public profession of their faith!
  • Baptism is the first step of obedience to Christ for a believer. Jesus commanded us to be baptized.
  • Baptism illustrates the gospel in our lives. We identify with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.
  • Baptism is the gateway to church membership.

How are you baptized?

  • PSBC practices baptism by immersion. This means that we believe the best picture of Jesus death, burial and resurrection is to be totally immersed in the water.
  • The Greek word baptizo literally means “to dip under”, and all baptisms in the Bible were by immersion.

Membership

What we believe about membership:

Poplar Spring is a local church, a congregation of born-again believers who covenant together to be a visible expression of the church. The church is first and foremost made up people whom have been born-again, those who have new life through the grace of Jesus Christ. These born-again believers make a commitment to one another to love, serve, and partner together in their own personal growth and in the completion of the Great Commission.

How you can become a member:

If you are not yet a born-again believer, that is you have not repented of your sin and placed your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We would invite you to learn more about this important decision by speaking with one of our pastors or leaders, or attending one of our Starting Point classes.

If you are already a born-again believer but haven’t been baptized by immersion, we rejoice that you are a born-again believer. We invite you to participate in this beautiful, public symbol of your faith in Jesus we call baptism. You can learn more about baptism and joining the PSBC family by attending one of our Starting Point classes.

If you are already a born-again believer and have been baptized by immersion, you can join our church by entering into covenant with the PSBC family. You can learn more about our Church Covenant and making this commitment by attending one of our Starting Point classes.
